Nusr-Et (Saltbae) Restaurant Review
Went for the meme, delighted by the food and experience! Five hearts!
Buckle up, Gotham Fans. I have a controversial restaurant review incoming
My friend and I wanted to have dinner in the city. We planned months in advance and selected our target and, yes, we kinda did it for the ‘gram. Or at least the amusement: we went to #SALTBAE’s restaurant- Nusr-et!

It’s called Nusr-et, which is Salt Bae’s first name. I arrived first and sat at the bar. Victoria (the bartender) was absolutely dedicated to finding me a perfect drink. For me that night, that’s water. And she served it in a beautiful crystal glass with a lemon.
I settled in to take in the view. Absolutely soul watering. Lush, dark, mysterious, romantic, and a touch of that Middle Eastern magic that I’ve always found so alluring.

And the smells. My mouth was watering from the smell of steak and other scrumptious fare wafting out to tempt my tummy grumbles.
I stood strong, ladies and gentlemen. But it was not easy.
My dinner companion arrived and we were quickly seated at a window. The restaurant is clean, organized, and has a great vibe. I might turn down the music a smidge but that’s one of my few opportunities for improvement that I would suggest.
The catching up was much and our waiter could not have been more patient and supportive. We chose our food and asked his input and he approved- then off he went.
The food arrived at a perfect time- not too fast as we were enjoying each other’s company and stories- and it was served with good natured, professional, and exacting care.
We got Cesar salad and thin sliced filet. It. Was. Amazing. I’m hungry again thinking of it. Juicy, tender, and flavorful steak and Cesar salad with crunch, cream, and crisp lettuce. Amazing!
I enjoyed every morsel and had to stop myself from scraping the plates to enjoy more of it. Unexpectedly, one of the meat slices was heart shaped!

We splurged a bit more and ordered a dessert to share- the classic baklava. A gentleman promptly appeared at our table with Turkish vanilla ice cream and a pan of fresh, crispy but smushy in the right ways baklava that he proceeded to prepare with the precision and enthusiasm of a drum major on game day. It was so much fun to watch his performance!
And, yes, it was also delicious.
I’m not normally a meme girl but people are sleeping on how excellent this restaurant is. Get yourself to Nusr-et. No, Salt Bae didn’t make an appearance nor was our steak salted with his technique but it was a top shelf experience.
Oh! I didn’t have lunch there and I get absolutely nothing for sharing this review but they have a lunch special I will go back for soon- three courses with a non alcoholic beverage for $39!
A HUGE perk is that there is an ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE and well lit little park next door if you’re ready to enjoy another venue before you head home.
While lists of the best steak in the Big Apple don’t usually include Nusr-et, they should! It’s located at W53rd and Avenue of the Americas (6th Ave) in Midtown barely west. Their website is at https://www.nusr-et.com.tr/distinctive-venues/new-york-midtown.2.aspx
